I Pee When I Jump – Pelvic Floor Strength

I pee when I jump…but that’s normal right?

One more time for the moms in the back…
It is never ever normal to leak urine when you don’t want to be. Period.

Laughing. Jumping. Sneezing. Coughing. Running.

Ever.

Story time – 6 years ago, I was training a client for about 6 months – it casually came up in our conversation that she peed herself a little every time she sneezed. She never thought to tell me as she just felt it was ‘normal’.
(Don’t worry – my assessment process is much more thorough now).

Normal is a relative term and I’m very hesitant to use it BUT peeing yourself is not normal.

Let’s get some PEE facts out of the way..

➡️ There is help. You don’t have to live with this if you don’t want to. A pelvic floor physio can help you navigate this very common issue.

➡️ It is most often (not always) an excess of tension or coordination of the pelvic floor that is causing the problem. We always think that we need to do more kegels and isn’t always the best answer.

➡️ This is called STRESS INCONTINENCE – simply put when there is a stress on the body it causes you to leak urine.

➡️ Pregnancy and giving birth are risk factors but not the only reason someone might have stress incontinence. You don’t have to have had a baby, given birth vaginally or be a certain age to have this problem.

Here is my last thing – if you are dealing with this I hope this reel inspired you at least tell someone else. It can feel embarrassing and I get that – BUT the more we share the more we can find out that we are not alone.
